We have been advised by Auckland Council that works have commenced to renew the playground at Gladstone Park. We hope there will be minimal disruption to the Club and our Members but we wanted to share the details we have been provided that may affect your visit to the Club.
Â
Background:
The existing playground equipment has reached end of life and will be removed, new equipment is to be installed in the same location, and additional landscaping elements such as planting and nature play items will be added.
Â
Scope and Sequencing of Work:
Site establishment and erect safety fencing (Monday 13th November)
Carry out groundworks, strip topsoil and site preparation.
Install playground equipment
Install park furniture
Apply wet pour safe fall surface to accessible areas of playground (date to be confirmed)
Commission playground for use
Renew basketball court surface
Â
Work commenced on 13th November and is scheduled to be completed by 25th December 2023. Contractors will be accessing the park via the Gladstone Road entrance and will be installing site fencing along the grass edge to the park. A pedestrian accessway to the Tennis Club will be maintained along the path beside the tennis courts throughout the project.
Â
You will notice that work vehicles will be sharing our parking area on Gladstone Road so you would be advised to park on the street over this period. Please let your interclub visitors know that Gladstone Road and Balfour Road offer two-hour parking Mon-Fri. The parking off Balfour Road adjacent to the childcare centre continues to be unavailable during normal office hours.
Â
Please feel free to let us know of any issues that you encounter that we may need to pass on to Council.
